Gurugram Child Abduction Case Solved After 50-Hour Cross-State Operation
Gurugram/Pilibhit, September 2025 —
In a swift and coordinated rescue operation spanning two states, Haryana Railway Police successfully traced and recovered a 4-year-old girl who had been abducted from Gurugram railway station. The dramatic 50-hour mission concluded in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, where the child was found unharmed and safely reunited with her family.
The incident occurred during peak passenger hours when the child, momentarily separated from her parents, was allegedly lured away by a man identified as a habitual offender with prior charges of child endangerment and petty theft. CCTV footage from Gurugram station provided critical leads, enabling Haryana GRP to collaborate with UP Police and launch a targeted search across railway routes and urban shelters.
Authorities tracked the suspect’s movements using mobile triangulation and eyewitness accounts, eventually locating the child in a residential area of Pilibhit. The accused was apprehended on-site and is currently in custody pending formal charges under sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Senior officials praised the rapid inter-agency coordination, noting that the case highlights both the vulnerabilities in public transport hubs and the urgent need for enhanced child protection protocols. “We are reviewing surveillance coverage and deploying additional personnel at major stations,” said a spokesperson for Haryana GRP.
The rescue has sparked renewed calls from civil society groups and child welfare advocates for:
- Mandatory child tracking mechanisms at railway stations
- Real-time alert systems for missing minors
- Increased public awareness campaigns on child safety
The family, visibly relieved, expressed gratitude to the police teams and urged parents to remain vigilant in crowded public spaces. The case is expected to be fast-tracked in court, with legal experts calling for exemplary punishment to deter future offenses.
